The Case

42 years in prison. He is now free and building a new life. Most of that time was spent on Ohio's Death Row. In 2014, Mr. Tyler's sentence was commuted!  While former Governor Kasich granted clemency for Arthur Tyler, he did not initially follow the unanimous recommendation of the Parole Board that Mr. Tyler should receive parole eligibility. On January 6, 2025 Arthur Tyler finally walked out of prison a free man.

Because of grave doubt, serious unfairness associated with his case, and a positive use of his time incarcerated, the parole board granted Arthur parole after 42 years of incarceration.
